Gluten-free Waffle Board For Two
Whether you're a breakfast person or not, this gluten-free waffle board for two is perfect as a breakfast, brunch, or snack for two people. It's the perfect size for you and your friend or lover to graze and enjoy each other's company over some delicious waffles, bacon, and fresh fruit!
What can I add to a waffle board?
- Waffles - Obvious, but you need some waffles for your waffle board! My gluten-free waffles are top-notch, but if you're short on time, go ahead and get a box of waffles in the freezer aisle at your grocery store! You can also make red velvet waffles if you're making this for Valentine's Day.
- Bacon - Try to find one that hasn't been cured with sodium nitrites. If you're not a fan of bacon, you can add some sausages or eggs.
- Fresh fruit - For my gluten-free waffle board, I added sliced bananas, raspberries, seedless grapes, and oranges.
- Butter and sweeteners - Maple syrup, honey, jams, or even peanut butter would work! Use your favorite sweetener or use what you have in your kitchen!
How to Make a Waffle Board
Step One: Place the waffles on the board
Whether you're making a charcuterie board, a cheese board, or a waffle board, you should always start with the biggest items first, and work your way to the smallest items. In this case, we're starting with the main item: waffles!
Although it depends on the size of your waffles and how hungry you are, aim to have 2 to 3 waffles per person. If you're using store-bought waffles, make sure you heat them first before placing them on your board!
Step Two: Place the bacon around the waffles
Fry or bake your bacon and place them around the waffles. If you want more than one type of meat or you're not a bacon lover, you can also sautée some sausages, or boil or scramble eggs.
Step Three: Fill the empty spaces with fruit
While you can choose any fruit you like, keep in mind that you'll be serving them with waffles! Choose fruit that match the flavors of both the waffles and maple syrup (eg. bananas, raspberries, strawberries, etc.), or something juicy and tart to offset those flavors like a palate cleanser (eg. grapes, oranges, grapefruit, etc.).
